The weather seems to be holding. So fine for a stroll around Avenue de l’Opera.
We are here for our 20th “anniversary” so had Drouant’s special poulet/frites and a bottle of Meurault on their terrasse, a great way to spend Sunday afternoon.
Went for a walk around the Jardin early in the cool evening, lots of strollers, readers, contemplators, runners, chess-players, boule-players on the beautiful grounds.
Cheese and a Boulangerie Madam baguette for dinner, followed by the Rangers-Jays game on MLB-TV. Just like home? Maybe not.
- Dans le Metro.
- Palais Garnier. Garnier persuaded Haussmann not to plant trees on the avenue as there are on all the other Haussmann avenues as he didn’t want any obstructed views of the opera house.
- Looking from the Opera to the Hotel du Louvre. Pissaro painted Palais Garnier several times from his room at the hotel.
- At Drouant.
- Drouant.
- The Pantheon from the Jardin du Luxembourg.
- The pond (with showering seagull).
