After the gym, Sandy worked. Jessica and I took a few hour, fabulous spin around the Musée d’Orsay.
After (another) excellent lunch at L’Epi Dupin–I would come back to Paris just to learn how to make the caramelized leek with chèvre tart, it could easily have been dessert–we walked from Tuileries up the Champs-Élysées, digressing at Avenue Montaigne, to the Arc d’Triomphe, stopping at Ladurée, www.laduree.com, for a tea.
After a serious rest, we went back to Fish La Boissonerie for a fun dinner. On the way to meet Jess, ran into an acquaintance from Toronto. Funny as I knew he was living here but what are the chances of actually running across him?
Jessica goes back to Toronto tomorrow, sadly. I am sorry we didn’t do two things, go up the Arc d’Triomphe to see L’etoile, a beautiful view of the Haussmann boulevards, and have a mint tea at the beautiful Arab Institute, for another gorgeous view of the city.
- Interior Musee d’Orsay, the converted train station. Toronto or some other North American city would have torn it down after it fell into disuse.
- One of the clocks.
- Whistler’s Mother.
- View of Sacre Coeur from Musee d’Orsay.
- One of my faves, a Cezanne still life.
- Renoir, the Dancing Hall in Montmartre, no longer there, next to the Moulin de Galette.
- Outside Galerie Maeght on rue du Bac.
- Tuileries Gardens.
- Place de la Concorde.
- De Gaulle statue.
- Avenue Montaigne.
- On the Champs-Elysees. The flags are for Friday’s May 8 holiday.
- Publicis building (Michele Saee).
- Arc de Triomphe.
