Day 37–Spring Lethargy

Had a difficult time trudging to the gym this morning after our late night. Sandy trooped off to French class.

We’ve had email issues for the last day+ so I’ve been feeling a bit disconnected, especially bothersome as I have one or two work-related emails to send and have been awaiting a response about lunch from someone here but that’s technology…

After lunch at A L’Aordage,  2, pl Henri-Bergson, in the 8th arr, (the location apt given my own particular sense d’humeur), we strolled down to Concorde via pl St-Augustin (with Joan of Arc statue in centre), along blvd Haussmann, down rue Pasquier over blvd Malesherbes to Place de la Madeleine (with large church) for boutique shopping. Then along rue St-Honoré, down rue Cambon past the Polish church and on to rue de Rivoli.

Email still out! But I have been thinking, this enforced detachment may just be a blessing in disguise.

Saw a great quotation today by Jacques Prévert, one of my favourites, a book of whose I  bought the other day. He said, “Il ne faut pas laisser les intellectuels jouer avec des allumettes.” (“Don’t let the intellectuals play with matches.”)

It was a beautiful day today so we had a late afternoon coffee/beer at Café de la Mairie, people-watched, read, came back to the apartment and that was today.
