Sandy’s day off. Had class today. It was better, more useful. It was about\u00a0buying things rather than last week, applying for a job, although no doubt useful in these bad economic times.<\/p>\n
We were sluggish yesterday for no good reason. More energy today. I think it’s difficult to do an activity every day but I think we did less yesterday than any other day here.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, I see that Mark “The Bird” Fidrych died. 54. Too young!<\/p>\n
Having been rebuffed, politely I should add, twice previously from L’Epi Dupin, 11 rue Dupinwww.epidupin.com<\/a>\u00a0near here, we had a supberb lunch (34 euros for\u00a0entr\u00e9e, plat et dessert\u00a0<\/em>and well worth it) despite somewhat snotty service. Besides this, the\u00a0point, the\u00a0resto gets knocked for the\u00a0hustle and noise but it’s\u00a0really a\u00a0serious step up, without the attendant cost,\u00a0from the basic bistros, the down-home cooking places\u00a0at which we’ve been dining. Very inventive, innovative, beautifully prepared cuisine. (The name is a play on words,\u00a0un epi\u00a0<\/em>is an\u00a0ear or tuft, and this is the way they make their bread.\u00a0<\/em>So,\u00a0Dupin\/du pain<\/em>, get it?)<\/em>\u00a0A repeat visit is definitely in the cards.<\/p>\n After\u00a0un pause<\/em>, we took a spin around the Decorative Arts Museum, part of the Louvre,www.lesartsdecoratifs.fr<\/a>, where we saw a show on Art Deco\u00a0bijoux\u00a0<\/em>(jewellery) and another on old French TV commercials, both interesting.<\/p>\n That was it for the day. Just hung out at home this evening, but at least we weren’t 3-toed tree sloths (an “ai” in the English Scrabble dictionary, who gnu?) like yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
