After lunch, we went on another outing; it’s beautiful here today.<\/p>\n
We started at the Jardin des Plantes, the\u00a0botanical and zoological gardens at the end of the 5th arr, across from Gare d’Austerlitz. Into the Paris Mosque with minaret where the\u00a0muezzin\u00a0<\/em>still calls the adherents to prayer. Into the Ar\u00e8nes de Lut\u00e8ce, an old Roman ampitheatre where they held gladiatorial fights. Along rue des Boulangers, named for the 16th century bakers who lived on this charming, winding street. Past the lovely Le Brun townhouse that they seem to be doing something with, although what, we couldn’t quite figure out. Then into the splendid Jean Nouvel-designed Arab Institute where we had\u00a0mint tea on the roof,\u00a0well worth the 12 euro price\u00a0for the beauty of the building,the\u00a0caf\u00e9\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0and the exquisite views of Paris, especially handy now that the old department store across the river, Samaritaine has closed. It, too, had a terrific panorama view.<\/p>\n Making\u00a0choucroute\u00a0<\/em>for dinner tonight.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
